Ayr winner- updated

Ancient Times ridden by Kyle James for L&D Interiors

imageWhat a tough performance from Ancient Times today in the last at Ayr, Kyle gave him a really positive ride and he worried the well backed Alistair Whillans favourite out of it by the line to win by a length and a half. We have had Oz a long time and this was a satisfying win from a brave little horse who just didn’t want to give up despite a huge over-jump and peck at the third last, Kyle did well to sit tight!

I think we hit new heights of cheering in the kitchen at Castleton (all riding the finish with him)  – we may have two yards but its very much one team when it comes to shouting home our winners. He will be about back now and ready for a well deserved topspec dinner.

I missed Ol’y Rocks race at Wolverhampton (school run) but watching the replay he ran a nice race , finishing in the first third and looking a it green still, he can only improve.

We also want to say congratulations to Philip Dennis who rode a good pointing winner at the weekend, ‘Raid Stain’  – Philip is our talented young amateur who gets aboard BRUNELLO tomorrow at Southwell for an amateur handicap. He is well capable of making it win number 3 for us in 2013. Brunello is pictured here on on one of his hurdling exploits, (photo by one of his Owners) he runs in the ownership of Ownaracehorse and best of luck to them all tomorrow.

brunello jumpPhil is left with something to ponder about where to send debut bumper 2nd ‘Hail the Brave’ this week – to Newcastle, Towcester, or wait for an alternative…the decision may be made for him yet as Newcastle has to pass an 8am inspection tomorrow morning and the vibe is not great with the forecast.

This is a video of 3rd lot at the yard as promised yesterday , one further one to follow in next few days.

Just remains for us to say how  fantastic Hurricane  Fly was  yesterday, and also what a brave run from Big Bucks, two legendary horses and the sort we all dream about in this game. We also salute  Barney Curley and his amazing 4 timer last week,  the master at work, what a patient effort and to get them all there on the same day after huge lay offs, just brilliant.

Hopefully a winner for us this Spring, Matthew Riley
