The cost for this is now per month – It was £84.00 for a single membership from December 2023, so we are now offering a reduced cost from whenever you join, payable by bank transfer for which we send you details.

OUR RACING CLUB BRINGS YOU CLOSE TO THE ACTION & LETS YOU ENJOY THE CLUB HORSES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY – FROM THEIR TRAINING AT HOME TO DAYS AT THE RACES. WE ENJOY KEEPING EVERYONE UP TO DATE VIA OUR DEDICATED PRIVATE FACEBOOK PAGE AND EMAIL SERVICE.
‘Our absolute aim, win lose or draw on the racetrack, is that you feel ‘part of our yard’ however far away you live – to give regular videos, audios, interviews and photos to provide ‘year round’ enjoyment – the excitement of racehorse ownership for an affordable outlay.

The PKR CLUB TEAM :
Our Club is run by a small family committee of Trainer Phil Kirby, his wife Pippa Kirby & help from our PKR office team Anna Dent & Sarah Olley.
Our postal address is our home yard ‘Green Oaks’ East Appleton, Richmond, North Yorks DL107QE & for all enquiries the email is clubpkr@hotmail.com. We train from a beautiful & practical newly built yard created from scratch in 2016.

THE CLUB HORSES
BILLIAN – Billian is a 6 year old gelding by Mehmas x Truly Magnificent and is our most recent dual WINNER – he is ready to run again in April and he has been a competitive handicap sprinter. Struggling for form of late, we will be looks to honourably retire him and find an able replacement for the summer flat season if he does not feature next time. He has been a fun little superstar for the Club!
MARTALINDY – 7 year old National Hunt mare by top French stallion Martaline out of 130 rated 5 x jumps winner, Helen Wood. Martalindy is a tall, quality homebred 16.2hh bay mare who runs in the dual club colours, LILAC & PURPLE . She is also a winner, after being third in a national hunt flat race she WON on her second hurdles start at Huntingdon. Following an injury sustained at Musselburgh before Christmas, ‘Linda’ will resume hurdling and hopefully be out again in May and through the Summer months. She is a tall supermodel of a mare with the best walk in the business!
Please note, GREEN OAKS TOP CAT – is not an official PKR Club runner anymore as Dual bumper winning ‘Molly’ has had to be retired this season due to a reoccurring leg injury. She has won the hearts of many of her Club Owners in the last 2 years, and although she is not now performing on the racetrack as a Club horse, she has become a broodmare at the yard and Club Members will still be involved with her as we continue to post her new breeding career for all to enjoy. She is no longer in the registered ownership of the Phillip Kirby Racing club, as she is registered back to Phillip Kirby as the Breeder for future foals , but we very much wish to keep everybody involved with her and look forward to sharing the breeding journey with our club members. ‘Molly’ is currently at stud in France and has been covered by the Group 1 winning stallion, Mare Australis.
OUR WELCOME / RE-JOINING PACKS
All new joiners receive a posted welcome pack ( or to the recipient if its for a gift) . This A4 hard-backed envelope contains a welcome letter, an A4 colour photo of the Club horses, an enamel Racing Badge, a PKR Club pen, & a PKR yard brochure.

THE PKR CLUB PRIVATE FACEBOOK PAGE
Access to a private Facebook page called ‘ Philip Kirby Racing Club – Private’ – this is regularly updated throughout the week with photos, videos, work plans – anything we feel is of interest regarding the club horse plus other stable news. We strongly recommend joining Facebook to enjoy the full experience, even if it’s just to access this page ( and our main PKR page) and nothing else. You are ‘accepted’ once you have confirmed membership.
*If you are waiting for your welcome pack to arrive please do request to join the Facebook page to start receiving updates.
* Emails containing photos, videos & news regarding the club horse’s progress or race plans. There will be entries, declarations & informative audios from Phil the night before the race, plus a full report of how he or she has ran afterwards.
RACEDAY OWNERS BADGES…breaking the mould
We may be may be unique in drawing a PAIR OF BADGES for your Owners Race day out. We don’t believe in making a partner remain outside the paddock or sitting down to an Owners dinner on your own while your partner heads to the burger van! To make the most of our policy, both you and your racing partner must be members . If single or only one of you wants to join, you can apply for one badge and when your name comes out the hat it will read ‘one badge’. We will then draw again until we reach find another single badge request as all the racetracks seem to give us an even number of badges – between 6 and 10 usually. However, ARC racetracks offer a different new Syndicate Raceday experience. We are not quite sure about this yet but we’ll see what feedback we get – we are allowed 20 badges and all Syndicate Owners have their own room with refreshments but no lunch or dinner vouchers. More badges but less on offer. All 20 can go into the paddock.
Finally, this does not affect your invitation to bring a friend or family member with you to one of our Open Days, although we ask to limit this to one person if at all possible for space available.
* There will be a Club representative to meet you at the races and join you in the paddock. This will be Phil, Pippa, Sue or a senior member of our team.
*Photographers links sent by email in the event of a win 🤞🏻
* If she / he wins , the trophy and any champagne / framed photo prizes at the track will be distributed between her Owners present on a quick draw after the prizegiving. It’s been fantastic that every time we have had a winner, the tracks have allowed all our Club Members into the winners room to enjoy champagne, even if only 12 had paddock badges.

HOW TO FIND US:
We are easy to get to – less than 5 minutes off the A1 near Catterick in North Yorkshire, 15 minutes from historic Richmond, and right in the heart of North Yorkshire with the Dales on one side just 40 mins away and to the other side an hour to the North Yorkshire Moors & Whitby. We can recommend plenty of places to stay if you wish to make it an overnight or weekend visit . What a great excuse for a racing break!
WHAT ISN’T INCLUDED
A SHARE OF PRIZE MONEY – currently this is supplementing our Club subscriptions to go some way to keeping and running the 2 Club Horses. It’s not making a profit, in fact our first 2 years we a made a loss, but it is improving. and we hope to cover all costs by expanding our Club in time.
A share of proceeds if we decided to sell one of the Club Horses. This is very unlikely given our great record of keeping and poor record of parting with anything! However, for financial reasons, if we managed to breed an outstandingly valuable horse we couldn’t afford to keep from a business or family point of view, this eventuality is covered here.

Sun Hill Lodges, Middleham – 5* luxury private lodges if you are fancying a very special trip
The Black Horse, Kirkby Fleetham (local pub restaurant/ boutique B&B ) fantastic food, lovely rooms 10 minutes
The Greyhound Inn, Hackforth (local pub/ B&B) (5 minutes) good pub food, clean and handy
The Premier Inn, Catterick Garrison (10 minutes) you all know what to expect!
Travelodge, nr Catterick (15 minutes) new on the bypass
Scotch Corner Hotel (15 minutes) easy reach from the A66
Rockcliffe Hall, Darlington (20 minutes) 5* hotel and restaurant and a superb spa / gold course
Swinton Hall Hotel, Masham – a really special 5* treat with another superb spa (20 minutes)
