Welcome to ‘Green Oaks’ the home of Philip Kirby Racing – a purpose-built 62 box racing yard between Catterick Village and Bedale, just a couple of minutes drive from the A1 and conveniently situated for so many of the North’s racetracks. The yard is sited on 100 acres of good grassland, fenced into post and rail paddocks and offering excellent turnout. Facilities include over a mile of all-weather gallop, and Spring 2018 saw the 1m4f grass gallop maturing. With a carpet track to ride around the farm there is no need to go on the roads but plenty of variety to keep the horses interested, as well as a large outdoor fibresand arena for lunging and flat or polework, a sand lunging pen, a full range of schooling fences & hurdles, and a 6 Bay horsewalker for warming up or those on restricted exercise. Horses are very much individuals here, its something we are very committed to.
We hope you will enjoy our new video…
And Just a small taste of a morning on the gallops…
The internal stables are found in the three large airy barns, all with views down the valley through the wide front double doors. There are also a row of 7 isolation boxes at the far end of the farm. Phil, Pippa and their girls live on site in the farmhouse, and this means there is 100% year round supervision of the horses, and always someone at the yard day and night. Autumn 2018 saw a row of ten new Outdoor stables being built will competed the yard nicely for 2019 and this Spring there will be ten matching ones built behind them looking down the valley.
One noticeable difference since we moved here in 2015 has been the amount of our Owners now visiting more frequently and coming to watch their horses work or school. We are so easy to get to just off the A1, it makes it very convenient, and we have made plenty of use of our dedicated new Owners room and super new Office with views down the gallop. We are happy to see you anytime, and the kettle is always on.
This is a dream place to train racehorses and we are sure you will agree if you would like to arrange a visit and consider sending your horse to Phil to train.
