October….

Todays Runners at Sedgefield

We cant quite believe it is October and there is even talk of Christmas already! October means weaning for our foals and all went well with them coming into the loose barn and the mares going up the road to our 2nd yard Bushypark. They usually take it well as being loose in the barn with each other for company it doesn’t take them long to forget about mummy while they are in the lovely dry barn full of a deep straw bed with plenty of feed on offer!

Winners!!!

We’ve got off to a good start this month with a couple of winners already in the form of Peripeteia on Monday at Wolverhampton with Robert Havlin on board for a confident win after taking it up 2 furlongs out. Great to have another winner for long standing owners with us the RedHotGardogs, this being Peripeteia’s 4th win since joining us last year. Looking back to last Tuesday we also had 2yr old filly Lady Bouquet offering a very obliging victory at Wolverhampton to make all and win by over 3 lengths under Hollie Doyle for owners James & Susan Cookson. Hopefully proving a nice progressive sort following her wind surgery which seems to have helped her out very nicely.

Lady Bouquet’s win….

Peripetea’s win…..

We had a 2nd from Lord Torranaga and a 3rd from Billian at Southwell yesterday, top efforts from both of these very consistently placed horses for the PKR Club (Billian) and the Lord Torranaga Partnership. Its a total of 5 2nds for us to go with the 2 wins in the past 10 days, so we are quietly confident things are looking good for getting the season off to a good start.

More Winners!!!!

There have been more equine winners from the Kirby camp this month, not on the race track but at The Horse of The Year Show. Pippa and Monivea Black Magic (Merlin to us!) floated around the ring effortlessly to take the Coloured Traditional Native Pony class, making it a double after also winning at the RIHS in July. Not bad for a mere 6yr old. Huge thanks goes to producer Lucy Glover and her team for all their help and support as always – you evidently do a TOP job! Pippa now has a very unfortunate headache of having 2 daughters both wanting to take over the reins as Pippa has decided to hang up her showing hat and bow out on a high. Good luck with that, maybe you should just keep riding him yourself! As the breeder/owner of Monivea Mozart it was fantastic for the Kirby’s to see him achieve 4th in the Supreme In-hand Championship with producer Jerome Harforth.

Pippa’s comments on Facebook following her dream day…

Where do I start, i’m that tired today i can hardly type ! So proud of our boys Merlin & Mozart, produced to perfection by Lucy Glover & Jerome Harforth and the team behind them both, Nathan, Abbie, Jayne & Jerry❤️💜 A dream to ride that lap of honour and emotional for Lacy’s sons to stand 1st & 2nd, a win apiece for them now 🤍🖤 well done Sarah Harrison with beautiful Starman. They were both a dream in the international arena, riding through the purple curtains into that huge ring was a moment i’ll never forget. Thankyou to everyone for taking the time to send lovely messages, to my friends for cheering, my girls for letting me have one last go! & my Mum for her epic balloons & gate lights to celebrate 🥳 to watch Sophie Staveley go Supreme Pony on Swan lake was the end of an unforgettable 3 days ⭐️👏 #fedontopspec
