Aintree Tomorrow….

Top Ville Ben

We are excited to be taking Ben back to Aintree tomorrow for a crack at the Topham this year, with the shorter trip looking to be up his street we hope he can get into his lovely rhythm of jumping with Tommy over the big ones for his Harbour Rose partnership. Jason The Militant also heads to Aintree for the William Hill H’cap Hurdle. We think being back up in trip will suit him for another try at 2m4f here where he was favourite when unseating Rachael Blackmore 2 years ago. He carries top weight tomorrow with Joe Williamson on board for owner Grant Nicholson, we wish the best of luck to Jason, Ben and all connections for a great days racing and a safe return home.

Employee of The Month….

Katie & Lone Star

Katie Perkin our head lass is this months winner and she has earnt it well with a revamp of the staff room to give it the freshen up it needed to make it a nice place to sit for tea break in the mornings. Top effort Katie, now it just needs to stay that way! Her chosen prize was a tasty box of goodies from Fudge Kitchen – Lone Star was hoping for a sample!

Lone Star desperate for a taste!

Best Turned Out Double… Last week we had a duo of runners in the bumper at Wetherby and the race was split resulting in a duo of Best Turned Out wins for Saffron. Telementry was a respectable 2nd in his division, pulling a long way from 3rd and beating some nice horses at odds of 100-1, a great advert for his owners (and our much appreciated long standing sponsors) Topspec.

Special Rate – Best Turned Out in the 1st division of the Wetherby bumper last Thursday

As usual our owners have been incredibly generous over Easter, with some beautiful chocolates, cakes, biscuits and more sent for the hard working team to enjoy – thank you Jeanette & Betty Joyce, Sarah & Malcolm Yull…..They were all very gratefully devoured!

Who do these cuties below belong to??? Can you guess who is behind the big white blaze she stamps on all her babies?

Winfola Update…

Winfola had been in foal for the first time this year and unfortunately for her and her foal it didn’t go smoothly. The foal was in an impossible presentation for birth and Winfola had to be swiftly whisked off to the vets for a c-section to save her, unfortunately the foal couldn’t be saved. Winnie is now thankfully on the steady road to recovery with 30 day box rest ahead of her. We would like to thank Hambleton Vets and Appleton Grange Stud for their quick response and all they did to save Winnie. It goes without saying we wont be trying again and she will be found a very special home once fully recovered.

Ex Racer News…

Robin has finally found his perfect fit in his 3rd new home, we dont give up – there is the right person out there for them all somewhere! Cal Cunningham says he is nothing but a gentleman and we look forwards to seeing them compete this summer.

Below is Eastview Boy who left us a number of years ago. He was a strong character in the yard and could be a little cheeky at times, affectionately known as Willy! He recently won the In hand Championship at Bishopton Equestrian Centre (below) with owner Sarah Callan who loves him dearly.
