What a view… The snow was still lingering yesterday

We were ALMOST celebrating another winner yesterday – Whitchurch did his very best to win again at double figure odds, just touched off in a photo finish at Chelmsford….a long drive back for Julie and Kelly who took him and new horse ‘Maskoon’ down there last night. They were however, awarded best turned out for their efforts. Whitchurch ran another good race, he would have won in another few strides, he just didnt get out quite in time, its a shame he will go up for finishing second.

Our new horse Maskoon was a bit slow into stride and found a wall of horses in front of him but he made some late headway and looks a nice potential hurdler for the future as he is a big horse with some good past form and should stay 2mile over hurdles. Mr Chuckles did not appear to relish Southwell and is becoming frustrating despite being one of the nicest horses on the yard and a real character.

No Runners today but we are gearing up for tomorrow with four at Wetherby and one at Cheltenham. Nautical Nitwit has earned his place down there in the 2m 5f handicap hurdle after a good win and second on his latest starts and he will be partnered by Gavin Sheehan with Adam Nicol still on the sidelines. Adam had  a bad fall and a couple of days in hospital but he is back fit again now and hopes to be riding again next week.

At Wetherby we have Cleve Cottage, Sakhee’s City, Triple Eight & Episode. The latter is having his third run in a novice and will be seen to better effect in handicap company but this nice big horse should show improvement from his debut at the last meeting there. Triple may find the class of race quite hot but with plenty of rain forecast he will be off a light weight and is fit from the flat under Paddy Aspell who rides him for the first time. Cleve Cottage is going novice handicap Chasing after this appearance, and looks every inch a staying chaser. Sakhee’s City is a lovely big horse who ran consistently all last season and needs to be produced late on in his races. He is having his first start of the season.  It looks as though it is going to pour down all night and tomorrow morning and they dry up for racing which is very handy! Good luck to all our Owners involved at these two Grade 1 Tracks tomorrow.
