Thursday 12th December

We have had a few quiet days without any runners but today sees Ancient Times and newcomer ‘Bandalero’ at Newcastle and we are only half an hour from ‘Oz’ running in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle. He is only modest but we like to think he can win in his turn and he usually gets into the winners a few times a season.

Bandalero  is a lovely big type of National Hunt horse, he is ridden by Adam Nicol, and you will note that all our jockeys have rides in this race – Kyle, Adam and Richie will all be doing their best to beat each other in the last!!! Bandalero has also schooled over hurdles and we will be seeing him jumping sometime soon.

We also have another unraced newcomer due to make his debut in a bumper – the striking chestnut Hail the Brave, a half brother to decent handicap chaser, Merrion Square is entered at Carlisle on Sunday and looks set to take his chance , it looks a potentially hot race but often in these cases, no one wants to take each other on, so it may well cut up.

Heres something to make you smile…Simon Olley would have been pleased to win BTO with Pass Muster at Exeter, only to open his envelope to find 2 complimentary  tickets to Exeter County Show 2014! …not sure him and Sarah  will be taking  up that engagement. Pass Muster is in good heart and expect to see him early in January back at Musselburgh.
