Misemerald is proving a shrewd buy from the Breeze-ups as she wins on only her second start as a 2 year old at Beverley under Andrew Mullen for owner Joyce Porter. She looked a nice sort as she knuckled down to task and stuck her neck out to beat the Charlie Johnston favourite by a length. A lovely prospect to have in the yard with great potential, well done to all involved!

Looking back to earlier this month we had another top effort by Special Rate a fortnight ago at Hexham to land himself a hat-trick with Tommy on board for owner Rebecca Holmes. He rallied well and is a nice horse to be looking forwards to over his coming season, congrats to all connections.

Charity Rides

We have been busy with a couple of our staff getting the chance to have a go at Tommy & Joe’s job, getting out on track having a spin on one of our racers in a race. Meg was in a charity race last Saturday at Ayr on PKR Club horse Billian and Olly also had a go on Caracristi at Newcastle in the stable staff race yesterday. Both unplaced but were thrilled at getting to ‘have a go’ at the race track. Huge thanks go to owner John Hanson of Ace Bloodstock and the PKR Club members for the use of their horses.

Rounders Tournament

The staff have also been keeping themselves out of trouble (hopefully!) attending the Middleham Racing Yards Rounders Tournament, with Phil winning with his ‘boys only team’ which we think was a bit of a cheat, but he is the Boss!!!!

Last Friday Phil & Pippa headed down for a days racing with no runners involved at Ascot (above). Purely a social occasion for a change with long standing owners and friends which they both enjoyed very much.

Another equine venture of Pippa’s which few of you will know about is the half TB bred hack called Monivea Mozart who is excelling nicely in his sphere…

Winnie aka Winfola (above) has had a bit of a rough time with having surgery to save her life after having complications foaling. She is very much on the mend now and has gone to get lots of tlc in her new home with Helen Tranter. She will be hacking and doing some competing when 100%. We look forwards to seeing some pics of her new ventures.
