We’ve Hit the 500th Win!

We were delighted to reach the 500th winner at Ripon earlier this month. It was our gutsy 3yr old filly Lily In The Jungle who gave a bold front running performance to win under Barry Garritty for longstanding loyal owners to the yard The Well Oiled Partnership. A fantastic mile stone to have passed, well done to all involved!

We seem to have hit some hot form recently with 3 winners in the last 12 days, and a total of 6 for the month of May. Billian made Shay’s first ride as an amateur one to remember with their win at Chelmsford on the 11th along with Robert Johnson winning at Thirsk on the same day ridden by Connor Beasley. On the 16th we had Special Rate win at Newcastle under Tommy Dowson, followed by Lily In The Jungle with the 500th win on the 21st May. Red Force One gave a top effort making all to win at Huntingdon with Joe Williamson on board, which brings us up to yesterday at Cartmel where Special Rate fought hard to win again landing himself a double with Tommy Dowson.

Special Rate – Our Cartmel winner yesterday, led up by Libby

It was a good days racing yesterday with our other 2 runners there narrowly missing out on a win. First to run was new horse to the yard Jeepydoff Meel purchased last week from Doncaster Goffs sales by Phil for Brian Everson and Johnathan Rawcliffe. He gave an admirable effort under top weight to force a dead heat on the line for 2nd with Joe Williamson. Then came the win for Special Rate, handy in 2nd position the whole way before a gallant not-for-giving-in fight for the post, winning by a neck with Tommy for owner Rebecca Holmes. Last to run was Clean Getaway with a bit of a dispute for the lead early on before claiming it and making it a true testing pace before just losing out on the run in under Joe, owned by Phil himself….no owners sticky toffee for him!
