Sunday in Auteil

Good morning everyone, we have an exciting day ahead with Top Ville Ben contesting the Grade 2 Hurdle in France at 4 o clock. Felix de Giles takes the leg up and Ben is currently 4th in the betting in the 8 runner race. Ben has been relaxing there yesterday and this morning courtesy of Christian Leech who has been so helpful keeping him at their yard, also massive thanks to Max at IRB for all his entry help, and Stephen Voght for organising the transport and paperwork – there’s been a lot to deal with post Brexit.

Ben in France

Ben has a hard task on his hands, he reverts to hurdles after 2 seasons chasing, new jockey due to Covid isolation restrictions, and probably most of all he is facing race fit rivals as he returns to the track after 456 days following injury at the start of the NH season just finished. However, he looks in tremendous shape and is working really well at home. It would have been better if we had had a prep race but we go there certainly with the hope of running a decent race. Ben prefers to go left handed so Punchestown over fences wasn’t a serious option – this was the natural choice with soft ground on offer. Safe return the ultimate result and looking forward to next NH season! Best of luck to his Owners The Harbour Rose Partnership 🍀

Here was Ben yesterday afternoon having a leg stretch.

Yesterday we saw a 3rd of 3 from Madeeh at Ripon, but that doesn’t tell the full story as he was beaten just 3 1/4 lengths by 2 vey good turf horses and we got pretty close to them. Going off 20-1 compared to 4/7 and 6/4 tells you how well he performed in this grade. He was galloping all the way through the line and heads next to York.

To finish our Sunday news we thought you would enjoy watching the yearling Hercules with his unicorn toy! Followed by some photos of the boys at turnout, the class of 2020 🌞
