Sunday at Ayr

Hambleton Racing’s ‘Whoshotthesherrif’

We have an exciting day ahead at AYR! 2 runners – homebred SHOW PROMISE for Joe Williamson in the 4.45 and WHOSHOTTHESHERRIF for Sean Quinlan & Hambleton Racing in the 3.00, the 4 runner ‘Future Champions’ novices chase. This has long been the aim for Sheriff who won easily at Catterick on his latest start. The opposition are somewhat of a different gravy at Ayr today, and on ratings we have it all to prove ( rated 20lbs lower than Allmankind & 10lb lower than the Nicholls horse) , Malytistic is off 147 and we are rated 140. Sheriff doesn’t know this though and we feel the 2 1/2 mile & track will suit him and he has been saved for this race. There is sure to be tons of pace up front and Sean will be hoping they go a million and he can save a bit for the long Ayr straight. Sheriff exudes class at home and you couldn’t find a better model of a steeplechaser if you tried. Hoping for a safe clear round and plenty of luck for his enthusiastic Owners, he has already had a great season but a good run here would be the icing on the cake 🤞🏻

Show Promise has had an up and down season with some promising early runs and a decent 3rd at Catterick but it has been back to the drawing board after Carlisle and whatever happens today we are looking forward to next season off a competitive mark and we know he loves Catterick which is very handy! He’ll be targeting local races there next Winter for his Partnership and a good summer out beckons after today for both our horses. Phil & Megan D have taken the boys up early and we look forward to bringing you some paddock videos live from the track 🍀🐎

Phil with Sheriff yesterday

We have 2 of our staying flat horses in the 2m 5f race at Pontefract tomorrow – long standing residents WEMYSS POINT & SHINE BABY SHINE , both of who will stay every yard of the extended trip. They enjoyed a hack out round HORNBY park yesterday with Winfola & Show Promise and really seemed to enjoy the change of scenery.

Having now learnt how to add my YouTube videos to the new WordPress format there will be no stopping me! Turnout time this week has seen some great action videos on our Facebook page, here is the first of them loaded to YouTube..3 unraced National Hunt bred mares, all just out of full training – Lady’s Present, Martalindy & Green Oaks Top Cat ( waiting till next season for their debuts) and Caoioomhe Lady, a recent Irish point purchase who is an exciting prospect for next season too.

This week has seen the start of our naming process for the Camelot / Get Happy filly in the PKR Club. There is still plenty of time to join and put forward your 2 suggestions which will be voted on next Sunday by all the members. Visit the PKR club tab in the menu for full details. There will be quarter and semi finals of voting on both Facebook and by email ( for those not on Facebook we also send all our updates by email)

Here she is having her first away gallop , a steady canter first time up and second time she works alongside a more experienced horse . Jockey Dale Swift was very happy afterwards and this was the first step along the road to her making a first appearance in late May or June. She is out of a winning mare who was Listed placed by the highly successful stallion, Epsom Derby & Irish Derby winning ‘Camelot.’
