Bertie Blake wins at Sedgefield

come to those who wait… and on his 17th start, and our only runner of the day, Bertie Blake ran a memorable race at Sedgefield yesterday to record his first win by a whopping 16 lengths and absolutely delight his small partnership. This win has also given us all great satisfaction at the yard, particularly for Victor who rides him every day at home and has never lost faith that he would get his head in front. Bertie has come close before, but this time he had a loose horse pushing him along for most of the race, and while it could have caused carnage, it in fact looked to help Bertie with its presence and Tommy had only to nudge him out to record a fantastic win at one of our local tracks.

A terrific jump at the last by Bertie Blake

The video of his race which will be watched a good few times! Bertie is named after one of his Owners, Daniel Blake’s  Grandfather:  a soldier who was killed in the First World War, and this was a particularly poignant day for Daniel & his wife, Sarah.
