Friday 9th August – winner!

The handsome head of December Second

Video to  follow

We love a Haydock winner & ‘December Second’ did it in style yesterday for Andrew Elliott and Owner, David Platt.

Progressing from his three maiden runs, he found this mile and a half more to his liking than the mile last time, and was just getting into top gear in the last couple of furlongs. It would have been easy to go the hurdle route with this good looking Teofilio gelding after his impressive two bumper wins, but bred to be a Derby horse, this seemed the safer option, and it looks as though we have a high class staying handicapper on our hands. He is much in the mould of our other big winners, Platinum and Stargazer – and Phil has always held him in that sort of regard.

Winning here off 82, he will go up to a mark that should enable him a run in the valuable Haydock handicap we won with Platinum, The Old Borough Cup.  The £7000 purchase price from Goffs UK is looking better and better!

Phil is pictured here with our daughter Indy during the winning interview.

Julie & Katie led up our two runners, December & Lady Camelot yesterday, and both looked an absolute picture in the paddock – Julie taking her third Best Turned Out award from as many runners – we certainly pride ourselves on the appearance of our horses at home and back at the yard and of course they are being fuelled by the best feed & supplements in the business, TopSpec 😁 many thanks to our Sponsors as always.

We enjoyed beautiful sunshine yesterday but today it’s pretty grim at Green Oaks… here’s Ashley getting wet about to head down the gallop on L’Attendue. Luckily no runners today to get a drenching at the races too.

Having a walk around the mares & foals last night, it was lovely to see how friendly they are becoming and growing so fast too!

We are so impressed with Lady Chloe’s big MILAN colt foal who has ‘Chaser of the future’ written all over him. He is a half brother to recent Novice Hurdle winner, Lord Rococco, Juvenile hurdle prospect, My Strong Man & and has two half sisters growing up in the fields by Presenting & Doyen. Lady Chloe is just a wonderful mother and loves her job.
