Sunday News – and winner!
We had one runner at Carlisle today and luckily it was a winning one! Sean Quinlan gave the Yeats five year old a quiet waiting ride and he battled on to get the better of the favourite in the shadow of the post. This was Romeo Brown’s 3rd run for us and he will be an even better horse as he fills out & matures. He had a real shine on his coat today and has just started coming to himself. He is another Yeats to win for us – we’ve 3 runners and 3 winners of about 8 races by this stallion. We find they stay well and are robust horses. We have Lady Chloe booked into him!
Phil withdrew Suggestion on the heavy ground at Newcastle yesterday but he did decide to run Northern Girl ( a respectable 4th) and Show Promise ( an excellent 2nd in a warm little bumper). This was Tom Midgley’s first ride as a Conditional for us and it came pretty close to a dream start. We were pleased that Joss ran so well though, even more so as Phil & I bred him from the mare, Show Potential. He had a good number of his P’ship Owners there to cheer him on and he’s a smart staying prospect judged on this and his previous start.
We also had Staplegrove at Wolverhampton but he pulled hard and needs to learn to settle.
We are looking forward to running this lovely young horse later in the week… WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF who looks in great order.
