We are celebrating an AW winner at Wolverhampton yesterday – ‘Man of Verve’ won the 1m 1f handicap under a strong ride by Adam Kirby for his Owners, the Splash of Verve Partnership. This genuine little horse was winning the 3rd race of his career and he quickened up nicely in the straight when called for his effort. We were delighted for his Owners who gave owned him since the start of his career. Watch the video of the last 4 furlongs…
With Phil being busy at Haydock, Victor & Nick took ‘Man of Verve’ & Dazacam to Wolverhampton, and they won Best Turned Out with the filly who sadly finished lame after her race.
The day certainly did not go to plan at Haydock, favourite ‘Little Bruce’ coming down at the second fence, a slight mistake that he would have usually got away with but for the fences being ‘ the biggest fences I have ever seen and the tightest I have ever seen’ according to Trainer, Colin Tizzard. 7 horses fell in the chases on the card and Haydock later issued a statement that they would be reviewing them before the next meeting as they were clearly too stiff. Luckily Little Bruce was unhurt but most frustatingly Tommy has broken his collar bone and we are gutted for him, it couldn’t have happened at a busier time and he’s been in flying form. Team PKR is wishing him a speedy recovery and many thanks to everyone who has enquiried how he is and sent him their best regards on our email, phones & Facebook. Later on the card we had Sakhee’s City in the big handicap hurdle, he possibly found the ground quick enough but could do with some help from the handicapper, this multiple winner shouldn’t be able to go off such a big price if the handicappers have him right.
We drew a blank with Discay today but he’s home safe & sound, and tomorrow Phil takes a trip up to Mussleburgh – all have sound each way chances and Adam rides. Iconic Belle makes her novice hurdle debut, Asum will be trying to make it 3rd time lucky after 2 seconds and Richard Strauss, fit from a win on the flat, will be hoping to double up over hurdles.
