We’re very sorry here at PKR to report that we lost Captain Bob at Newcastle to a suspected heart attack on Wednesday evening. A winner for us this summer, Bob had enjoyed a summer break and we were looking forward to a Winter in the AW with him. It was awful bad luck on his new Owners Stonleigh Racing and his existing Owner, Malcolm Long. Luckily Bob didn’t suffer unduly but again it shows the very sad side to racing.
Lord Rococco made his bumper debut at Huntingdon yesterday and he looked green before staying on for fourth, a respectable first outing and one which we hope he can build upon. Adam Nicol was pleased with him and he’s come back in good order.
This morning Phil took Stargazer for an outside gallop to Middleham with others and he went well up the front under Tommy, striding on enthusiastically. It’s just a week tomorrow until the Cesarawich and it’s getting pretty exciting, he’s guarenteed a run with his high rating and he appears to handle good ground or slower.
At Horse of the Year Show our former Aintree winning chaser, ‘King’s Grey’ was unplaced but looked a picture and behaved well for his Owner, Clare Poole – with only 9 places on offer it’s hot competition but we can see him going back next year and getting in the ribbons 🤞🏻 It was a tremendous achievment to qualify, every show horses owners dream.
Our daughter Izzy was also unplaced due to a disagreement with one of the jumps! Naughty pony Freddie handbraked at the last second , but she is determined to be back next year and try again – a character building experience.
