Sunday 7th October
Today’s post is dedicated to the memory of an Owner of ours who has sadly just passed away due to cancer. Les Richards was the perfect Owner – he enjoyed the good days racing and understood the disappointing days, he was an absolute gentleman, a good friend and fun to be at the races with. We will miss him and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. Phil and I are so pleased that they have decided to keep their two good horses in training and Skipthescales & Macardle will run in the family name – keeping Les’s colours on the racetrack as he wished and hoping for more winners as we enjoyed with him last NH season.
Yesterday saw a major ‘cross bar’ result, ‘I’m yer Man’ just getting touched off in a head bobbing finish at Redcar. However annoying this was a good step in the right direction and he can go on and get his head in front again now. Frustrating for both his Owners and our Team when a winner to finish the week was very much needed, but that’s racing and we’ll look ahead to tomorrow and hope this is where our luck kicks in.
It’s time to wean the foals at Green Oaks – and they’ll be coming up to the barn later in the week so that we can split them up from their Mothers. We’re a few weeks later than usual but the weather has been kind and it’s set to be pretty dry this week too. There are only 3 foals this time – Lady Chloe’s, Marmot Bays & Skid’s, 2 fillies and a colt.
