Lady Buttons

Its a hugely exciting day for Team PKR – and those who have watched Lady Buttons grow from a foal to a wonderful race mare will be hoping she can win herself, her Owners and the yard our first Class 1 over jumps at Wetherby this afternoon. We believe she has what it takes to beat the hot favourite, and the rest of a classy mares field –  and with the ground sure to ride in our favour, we are both nervous and excited about the big race today. Adam is her pilot as usual and knows her inside out – he too has every faith in this mare, and with plenty of pace promised, its sure to be a proper test on ground that may ease yet from SOFT all round. Just 5 minutes later the tough and talented ‘Little Bruce’ bids to win his first Class 3 over hurdles – he steps up to a 0-140 over 3 miles at Ayr, and despite long odds he did nothing but improve last season and he  is sure to aquit himself on ground that is officially described as heavy at Ayr this afternoon. Double declared in case Ayr was off, Bruce set off at 6 am on the trip up North, his travelling companion the 4 year old Westerner filly, Northern Girl making her first start over hurdles for Ownaracehorse & The Topspec Partnership.

Its quite a warm mares maiden, and a good clear round of jumping and a place would be great from this hardy little mare today – she was one of our Pontefract gallopers last week, and the experience will have done her the world of good.

Our quartet is made up of the winning hurdler, Minstrel Royal who runs for The Gathering – a big handsome horse who might have preferred better ground but will be fit and firing for todays race over a trip shorter than last time when he didn’t appear to stay. He had a pipe opener at Aintree in the charity race last weekend, and ran well for 4th with local Huntsman, Tim Coulson who had a great afternoon.

We looks forward to seeing many of our friends and Owners at Wetherby this afternoon and wish our Owners with runners a successful day but most of all a safe return for our four horses.
