Burns Night

Another frustrating day yesterday – seconds are always an annoying result (however good!) – its only the winners that count in the end.  Burns Night  looked all over the winner at Worcester yesterday only for the Twiston Davies horse to fly past him unannounced after the last and Burns Night just couldn’t peg him back but ran a blinder, he is becoming a very consistent little horse and we like him a lot.  Word of Warning also travelled like the winner for 90% of the race yesterday but a mistake at the wrong time lost all his momentum and Adam was sensibly not hard on him when his chance was gone. Both horses were fine after the race, the most important thing.

Hopefully we can get back on the scoreboard today with Monkey Milan at Market Rasen. Barry Keniry is jocked up, he has been schooling him at home and gets on well with him.  This is his first run for us and best of luck to his connections, he is a lovely horse.  he is not our only runner of the day – Elspeth’s Boy is on the comeback trail at Wolverhampton this evening , the 7f may be a bit short of his optimum trip but its a good start as he is always buzzy for his first run in a while and would pull too hard if Philip had gone for a mile +. Franny Norton is in the plate – he won’t lack for jockeyship, and he has ridden him in the past.

We have had several enquiries about shares  since the Waking Ned P’ship sold out – its great to have such interest  and watch this space – there are a ton of sales coming up and Phil will be looking for the next partnership horse soon.

I took this photo of broodmare ‘Royalty’ out with Rumble of Thunder yesterday, contented in the late Autumn sunshine, it was a warm night – Rumble is very happy out at present with his two ladies, Royalty and Hula Ballew.

Theres a new Equine at the yard today, but its not a racehorse…with the coloured show cob ‘Spellbound’ sold its time for another hairy to join the racehorse string, we do like our coloureds. This one is to be called ‘Brush Strokes’  and one for me to show. he is just 3 years old.
