Wed 31 Aug…

Leopold’s Rock (above) is our runner tomorrow at Sedgefield in the novice handicap with top jock Brian Hughes on board for Tor Side Racing. He has been running consistently well and hasnt been out of the first 3 for his last 4 starts to include a win with Brian at Uttoxeter at the end of June. We hope he can dig that bit deeper tomorrow with cheek pieces on for the first time to keep the eye on the job in the closing stages and get his nose back in front. Best of luck to him and all connections for a great days racing and safe return.

On Monday the top effort of the day at Ripon went to Peripeteia who ran a great race, taking the lead 2 furlongs out only to be nailed close home by Bearwith. Bearwith is trained by Harriet Bethell, a previous employee and friend of ours who survived a near fatal head injury in an horrendous fall at home on her gallops from which she has made a remarkable recovery to re claim her licence and go on to have winners again. A lot of you will have no doubt seen her story covered in the media. We dont like getting beat, but we couldnt pick anyone better to beat us! Well done Harriet!

ROR….

RICH MAN POOR MAN

The life of a race horse is far from over after they leave the track, many go on to compete in the ROR series (Retraining Of Racehorses) and one of our ex racers Rich Man Poor Man has claimed the top prize of ROR Show Series Supreme Champion! He was brought from Goffs by Phil and his dad Geoff but although looking the part he never quite took to being a racer. Huge congrats to his owner Morean Hamilton and producer Kirstine Douglas, he looks and is an absolute beauty!

Another of our ex racers who competes in the ROR series – Gordalan, looking smart with Lynn Russell.

A lot of the summer hols has had Pippa occupied by the Kirby daughters and the PKR ponies who have just done 5 days of the British Show Ponies Society Championships. They have had a blast of a time, but normal service shall resume as they head back to school and Pippa finds some extra time in the day again! A few pics from all the fun….

To finish off, i thought you might like to take a look at the gorgeous quartermarks on Bamboo Bay courtesy of Katie – yet another Best Turned Out win! Making the most of the horses looking tremendous in their summer coats. It wont be long now before the weather turns and the clippers come out, but on the plus side we cant wait for the winter jumps season to start!
