Frosty Friday!

Its a freezing cold day following yesterdays snow with temperatures still sub-zero even with the sun shining. Fortunately racing goes ahead on the AW today with 4 at Newcastle and 1 at Southwell later tonight.

The snowman building skills of the PKR team!
Todays first runner Iconic Belle.

Newcastle… Iconic Belle is our first runner of the day and could benefit from the up in trip combined with dropping to a handy weight, ridden by Tom Eaves. She ran well here at Newcastle for her first start after her summer break back in November. Man Of Verve could be another to also appreciate the return to Newcastle as a C & D winner here in September. Just 1lb above his winning mark he should have his chance if in form for today under apprentice Andrew Breslin claiming 5lbs. Idilico (Phil Dennis) and Autonomy (Callum Rodriguez) should have benefited from their first runs, both tiring in the closing stages, with Autonomy having been off the track for over 2yrs before joining us.

Man Of Verve.

Southwell… Later tonight in the last race on the card we have our winner from New Years Day Mr Carbonator back to attempt a double at arguably his favourite track. His current score at Southwell is 4 and he doesnt know how to run a bad race. Creeping back up the weights but still hoping to defy the 4lb rise for his last win as he remains in good form at home. Ridden today by Rossa Ryan, we wish him and all our runners the best of luck and a safe return home, especially with the bad weather to contend with at the moment.

Multiple winner & Southwell specialist Mr Carbonator.

Sakhee’s City, a new chapter begins…

Another long serving team member of the four-legged kind is set to say goodbye to us as he heads into retirement. 10 yr old Sakhee’s City is a familiar face around the yard being with us since a 2yr old joining us at our original yard over in Castleton and always having been under the same ownership in the White & Purple of Lady Buttons, Keith & Jayne Sivills. Having his best interests at heart as he looks to have fell out of love with the game he has earnt his honourable retirement. Another of my (Sarah’s) favs from when i was out there riding them instead of typing on the computer about them! He really is a part of the furniture here and it will be odd not having him in the yard. A lovely horse in every way and i hope he has lots of fun in his new career with Amanda Barker, a very lucky lady! Good luck Sammy!
