Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

14th Jan…

No surprise with the snow we have had over night and is continuing to fall that Catterick (pictured above) was abandoned early this morning, with Sedgefield already off tomorrow too. Its most disappointing for us as amongst the runners for today was stable star Little Bruce due to take on The North Yorkshire National at Catterick. Not much anyone can do about the weather though, hopefully we can get some runners out on the AW tracks tomorrow – but the snow could prove too much if there is no let up between now and tomorrow. We have Iconic Belle, Man Of Verve, Idilico and Autonomy due to go to Newcastle and Mr Carbonator heading to Southwell if given the all clear for racing.

Show Promise – another of todays runners for the abandoned Catterick, not looking too bothered!

Retirement For Suggestion

The kind Suggestion heads for a happy retirement.

We said goodbye to this gorgeous boy today – the gentle grey that is SUGGESTION who has been with us since he was 3 when Phil & Adam bought him at the sales. After an operation to remove an eye to a painful tumour he became happy again & back to his usual self, but the fighting spirit in his races wasn’t quite still there. He has earned an honourable retirement and after a period at former Team member, Jennie Durrans he will be heading up to Seahouses to live with the Nicol family, some of his Owners in his Partnership, Red Cap Racing. We know he is going to thoroughly enjoy his next life. He was an absolute gentleman every day, so trusting and kind even after his op to remove his eye, he will be much missed.

Buttons’ First Date Confirmed!

We are so excited to bring you the news that Keith & Jayne have chosen an outstanding Sire for Lady B – she leaves us later next month to head to Coolmore and visit the Sire of Min & Douvan – WALK IN THE PARK 💜💙 we can’t wait for the next chapter! She has her own Facebook page if you wish to follow her journey into the world of breeding as we and Jayne look forwards to bringing you updates of her new life. Her page is unsurprisingly called ‘Lady Buttons’!

Armys Dream with Katie.

Keith & Jayne have a new venture, along with their son Gary they have created a new syndicate called ‘WASPS Racing Syndicate’ for their latest horse 4yr old Army’s Dream by Dylan Thomas and we look forwards to seeing him hit the track for them soon.
