Its been a quiet few days without any runners for a change (Phil is box-walking!) but we are busy as always back at the yard with plenty of the younger horses getting going, including our latest partnership horse Twentysix Black who has behaved beautifully and will be getting sat on in the next few days.
Tomorrow we are at Haydock with Rayna’s World, Bahkit & Staplegrove.
HAPPY RETIREMENT NITWIT
It was a tough decision for his owners but the legendary Nautical Nitwit has finally come to his retirement day, gladly safe and sound. We wish him a very long and very happy retirement! He has been a stalwart of the yard with some top class efforts in some very good races. He had 7 wins including a grade 2 at Wetherby back in November and many placed efforts against some tough opponents. Only pint-size, but with the heart of a lion he always put in 110% and as a result the handicapper was never overly kind to him. At 10 years old he owes us nothing, has been a pleasure to train from the day he arrived and will be sorely missed by many of the team – not least Meg who has always hoped she could take him home after partnering him to as many of his racedays as she could. Luckily for her, his owners Birrafun 2 were more than happy to agree for her to have him – so he went home to Meg’s house yesterday, to live with another of our previous horses Cool Operator who was apparently besides himself to see his old friend!
