Friday News full update

NIVEN – one of our duo at Ayr

Yestetday evenings news turned into this mornings I am afraid for regular followers…. but bringing you all up to date now with our runners today at Ayr and a look back at the week passed including our exciting Grand National Saturday.

Both horses we take up to the Scottish National meeting today have sound chances and Tommy has the leg up on both of them. Suggestion kicks off in the 2.20 and he has won three times this season, he races today off a mark of 125 and the key to him has been learning that he loves a flat left handed galloping track. He has that today and will love the ground, we’re hoping his progression hasn’t plateaud and that he can round off with win number 4 before going out for the summer. Next season he will be going Novice Chasing and we’re looking forward to schooling him, he seems to have a natural pop.

Suggestion with Josh at home

Niven runs in the 4 o’clock, the 2 mile novice handicap for a good prize and it’s a small but select field. We’re pretty sure he’d like a bit further than the minimum trip and some softer going but this was one of the only suitable races left for him in this grade and he takes his chance on a track he should enjoy. He hadn’t done anything wrong this year and has made the frame on all starts for us, winning well with Adam at Hexham first time out. Best of luck to his Owners John Birtles & Bill Allan with their talented young Chaser.

Tomorrow sees 3 at Ayr, WEMYSS POINT, SAKHEE’S CITY & DECEMBER SECOND and we are hoping that they split the race at Bangor and that BERTIE BLAKE gets a run. We also have SOUTH SEAS and RAYNA’S WORLD in at Newbury if there is enough ease in the ground as they both require some soft. It’s blue skies and quick ground here at Catterick! Weymss Point and Kilcullen Flem warmed up for their respective races with a trip to the beach on Wednesday and they loved it …

NEW HORSES

Before looking back at the National we want to officially welcome some new faces to the yard: over the past couple of weeks we have had the following horses arrive:

Playmaker by Dubawi

FINGEREATER by Schiaparelli

Dancing Doug by Kalanisi

GORDANLAN

MILANVERA  by Milan – photo to follow shortly.

Quick break for our OWNARACEHORSE visit to see NORTHERN GIRL and then we will post our Grand National photos, views and video plus a look at Phil & Tommy’s Wetherby prizes yesterday – they won Leading  Trainer and Leading Conditional for the NH season.
