A Boxing Day TREBLE!
It was 2014 all over again…. 1 at Wetherby owned by Red Cap Racing and 2 at Sedgefield. But this time it was SUGGESTION, NICELY INDEED & DARES TO DREAM to make up our across the card treble and cap a fantastic day for Phil, myself, our hardworking Team and Owners involved. Videos to follow tomorrow.
Nicely started the ball rolling with a well judged waiting ride from Sean Quinlan – and delighted his new Owners Alan & Rosemary Jowsey. This win was well overdue and he is starting to find some consistency in his races which is really pleasing.
We had already seen an excellent 2nd from Oak Vintage for Joyce Porter in the 3rd race at Wetherby – a really good Chase start on debut for us, he had been running well all year for Anne Hamilton and Phil bought him at Goffs UK. Adam reported he would stay further and was pleased with him.
Northern Girl had ran well without quite making the frame in the 1 o’clock, she kept on all the way to the line and will surely find her opportunity soon, she’s a genuine mare.
Sakhee’s City looked a much happier horse over 2m 5f in the 2.45 , despite going off a big price he showed once again that he is more capable on his day, travelling strongly just behind the leaders all the way and wasn’t beaten far for 3rd. Another race like this can be his when the ground rides on the slower side and he enjoys himself again.
Back to Sedgefield – it was hard keeping up with all the runners! – and we watched ‘Dares to Dream’ absolutely fly home in the Mares bumper on TV at Sedgefield to make it a double for Sean Quinlan and win number 2 for us. A tremendously exciting win for her Owners the Long & Clarke families, all of whom have been in with her since a yearling. We were now on 53 for the year having passed our winner a week target 🎉
Suggestion was our final runner at Wetherby and Adam had him in a handy position throughout, junping well and coming through strongly to lead at the 2nd last. He galloped all the way to the line and received a great cheer from his Owners Red Cap Racing.
A happy team of RED CAP RACING Owners with Suggestion
Market Rasen remained and after a 6th from Jaycol’s Star we had Zig Zag in the last, it was a competing handicap hurdle and although not troubling the judge he ran a solid race for 4th.
With a win, a 2nd and a 3rd, Phil will have cemented his lead at the top of the Wetherby Trainers leaderboard – let’s hope there is more to come tomorrow! Races preview on the morning before 8 am.
All horses back safe and sound today – the best of Christmas wishes.
