Stargazer a clear winner today at Newcastle

The weather may have been abysmal but Stargazer brightened up our afternoon with a thrilling burst of speed to win the 2mile Championship Qualifier Conditions Stakes and beat the red hot Godolphin favourite. There was immense satisfaction behind this victory as we felt that Stargazer had earned his win when later losing it in the stewards room In the Spring. That day he had drifted left on to the 2nd placed horse but had been leant on himself by the loose horse – it was a major surprise when he lost it and very disappointing. Today really made up for it and it was so exciting to see him quicken up and put the race to bed at the 2 furlong pole. Robert Winston gave him a top ride and let’s hope he can go to the Easter Final with a chance, Phil will give him a break at some point to have him fresh for the big day.

Our other two runners weren’t placed but did show  signs of ability and promise that there could be better to come, Kilcoran pulling too hard and Midas Maggie staying on one pace.
