Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Monday 24th September News

Todays news is dedicated to ‘Donny’ as we called him, a lovely unraced young horse we very sadly lost on Friday due to an injury sustained in training. He was a really kind gelding by Doncaster Rover and we are all so sad at the yard, it hits everyone hard when one of the horses in our care is no longer with us. We express our deepest sympathies to his Owner & breeder, Andrew Bartlett.

Today runner…

Good luck today to Pullman Brown at Hamilton – he has had his training problems but hopefully he can come back safely and  we can put these niggles behind him and have a clear run. Ray Dawson claiming 3 rides in this Apprentice handicap and it looks a wide open affair.

The filly pictured below with Nick is the only remaining offspring of Preesall Garage’s 9 times winning stallion, ‘Andorn’. Named ‘Oneandonly’ she is now four and is being prepared for a fillies bumper but she could always revert to the flat for staying handicaps once she has a mark. She is a tough little filly and is improving every day.

We also trained the full brother of this coal black gelding below ‘Abington Park’ – brother, ‘Avidity’ won a bumper for us and was duly sold at the sales for a substantial sum – he went on to record 130+ figures over hurdles and fences for James Ewart – we are hoping this lad can also make up into a decent NH performer. 10% of him is for sale within Red Cap Racing – see the for sale page for further details.

Recent Runner News – At Catterick on Saturday we had ‘The Resdev Way’ running another solid race for 4th in a higher grade contest for Paula Muir. Friday saw ‘Richard Strauss’  3rd of 13  at Newcastle (12-1) beaten only 1l and 3/4 of a length – his day will surely come soon. Jaycol’s Star ran his most promising race to date on the flat, a late finishing 5th after finding trouble mid-race. Yesterday we were surprised that ‘Discay’ was sent off such long odds but in finishing mid field he possibly ‘bounced’  having won in cosy style on his comeback earlier in the month after a long layoff.

And finally a heartwarming photo of former multiple x winner for us, ‘Cavalieri’ winning at a show at the weekend for his now Owner. Jayne Bryan. I am not sure who looks more delighted!
