A look back at the sales – videos
Its been a busy three days at the Goffs sales and yesterday The Well Oiled Partnership sold ‘Bitumen Belle’ for a good figure of £28,000 to be a likely broodmare as she has a page full of black type being out of a sister to the dam of top class ‘Death Duty’. We were sad to see her go but this mare is ensured a good life as a broodmare, and she behaved impeccably all day with Katie. She looked tremendous at the sales and had so many people viewing her.
Phil made two purchases, although we were also underbidder on several that we would have liked to buy. The first day of the store horses was videoed , hope you enjoy seeing some of the horses we picked out to look at around what we believed would be the £20,000 plus market.
We were very pleased to buy a new Partnership horse on Day 1 and our existing Partnership Owners will have first chance to buy a share/shares in this filly before we offer her on our website – full details to follow in the next few days but for now a couple of photos of this beautiful 3 year old by the high class stallion ‘GETAWAY’ out of dual bumper and Listed hurdle winning mare, ‘SITE LEADER’ , a dam of 2 winners from 2 runners to date and from a high class family all the way through. She looks a valuable future breeding prospect too, and this will be an exciting option in our Partnership offer this time.
Site leaders Listed win over hurdles:
The dam won this Irish Mares Listed Final before being injured in the Grade 1 Punchestown Novice Final – her last racecourse appearance, she went off 7-1 for a GRADE 1 that day. The breeders told me that this flly is the absolute double of her dam. We are throughly impressed with her temperament and behaviour since we brought her home and she has a wonderful nature.
Phil has also bought an interesting 4 year old BUMPER prospect from the Alan Swinbank dispersal. This gelding came recommended and he is a big strong horse by successful young sire, Dragon Pulse. He is FOR SALE, photos and details to follow over the weekend.
An interesting Exercise: Here we are now looking back at the Store Sale we filmed 2 years ago – and how our picks have done since the sale, we have followed a lot of these horses out of interest to see what we didn’t or couldn’t afford to buy…
THESE ARE THE RESULTS OF THE HORSES WE PICKED OUT THE CATALOGUE OR CAUGHT OUR EYE TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK – you will see them on the video below: IN FILMED ORDER – We didn’t get a horse on the day:
‘Golden Whiskey’ made £34,000 by Flemensfirth x Derry Vale. Went to Evan Williams. We didn’t think the page was strong enough to buy but a good sort. Form to date: 564F but shown some promise for the future, rpr 118 over hurdles
‘Precious Cargo’ made £35,000 by Yeats x Kilbarry Classic. My favourite of the day, a good looking horse but not strongest page, Phil decided to leave him. Ran 3 x to date, won his bumper on debut, 2nd next time, unplaced on good ground in his last bumper at AYR in April. Looks a nice future staying chaser. One to haunt me!
‘Brave Light’ bought back in by vendor at £16,000 by Scorpion x Hester Hall – not for us on inspection, didn’t bid. Has ran four times – P455 with low rpr’s to date.
‘Oakley’ made £46,000 went to Philip Hobbs. Tirolean Dance x Oscar. he wasn’t for us on inspection and didn’t bid. Ran 2x so far, all this Spring, 3rd of 11 and 5th of 18 in bumpers, shown some promise.
‘Destinee Royale’ By Balko x Viana (FR) she made £56,000 to Venetia Wiliams yard. – Phils’ favourite of the day and a filly but she went way over our budget. She has been seen once, this Spring, and won her Towcester bumper on debut. One to haunt Phil!
‘Chilli Filli’ By Presenting x Daprika made £34,000 and went to Henry Daly’s – we were UNDERBIDDERS. She has turned into a really nice mare, form figures 7/143145-and won a bumper and a novice hurdle with an official rating over hurdles now of 122
‘Golden Sunrise’ By Stowaway x Fairy Dawn made £80,000 to Colin Tizzard. A particularly good looking big horse but he was fair over at the knee as you will see on the video and not the strongest page. However, we couldn’t have afforded him and it hasn’t stopped him! Form figures to date of: 4/7324132 and he’s won his novice hurdle at Exeter, currently rated 126.
‘Incertain’ by Milan x La Dame Brune. We didn’t bid, not for us. She made £20,000 to Tom Gretton and has never ran.
‘Diomede des Mottes’ by Kapgarde x Nelyssa Blue, made £47,000. We bid but didn’t get him. He went to Paul Nicholls and has ran in 3 x ponts – PU , 2nd and 1st (by 1/2 a length)and he goes to the Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale on May 31st as a winning pointer. What will he make?
‘Angle of Harlem’ By Presenting x Whoops a Daisy, made £43,000 to Mark Bradstock – a lovely filly who we really liked and bid on but didn’t get. Form 8/4255- She hasn’t shown much and was beaten 29 lengths on bottomless ground at Uttoxeter by none other than our Transient Bay in a 0-120 hurdle. She was howver 2nd in a novice hurdle and has ran every time heavy or soft – you would think this quality Presenting filly should improve for better ground.
‘Diva Reconce’ by Kap Rock x Kruscyna, made £22,000 to Kim Bailey – a good looking filly by a young sire we didn’t know but is doing well now in France. We should have been braver as we did like her but the page wasn’t that strong – she won her bumper on debut by 7 lengths and then was 2nd to the above ‘Chilli Filli’ in a novice hurdle. her only 2 runs to date.
‘Ligny’ by Fuisse x Light Wave, made £26,000 to Nicky Henderson. Not for us on inspection. 14th of 20 and 8th of 12 to date. 83 best rpr to date.
‘Whisperinthebreeze’ by Kayf Tara x Silver Spinner, made £44,000 to Jessicca Harrington. A lovely horse, over our budget. Won his point to point and miaden hurdle to date, and form figures read 173149-2 with an official rating of 125 over hurdles now.
Tekkibleu de L’Orme by Blue Bresil x Tekila de l’Orme – made £45,000 to Highflyer Bloodstcok./ As many of you know we have since bought this gelding for £1,200 18 months later! He has a low rating and we hope he can improve. Watch this space.
‘Acronym’ By Flemensfirth x Turtle Lamp, went to Gordon Elliott for £50,000 – we liked him but well over our budget. he’s had one run to date, 4th of 10 beaten 15 lengths in a bumper at Limerick just 4 days ago – his racecourse debut.
