Monday 9th October – updated
We had a good turnout and an enjoyable morning on Saturday – luckily we cooked enough sausages and didn’t have to delve into the emergency bacon stash and both Mangata and Wemyss jumped safely in front of their owners. Phil also decided to give Hangard and Northern Girl their first sight of the hurdles and this was an interesting first schooling session too for those present. Next Saturday sees Northern Girl teaming up with Bertie Blake for their P’ship Breakfast Morning.
Our runner at Kelso yesterday, McKenzie’s Friend, was back safely – there will be other days for him and this was a satisfactory winter debut, as was Hexham for Little Bruce whoA quiet day with no runners but a full house to ride out and Phil might be adding to the numbers today as he is at Tatersalls Sales Book 2 yearling sales in Newmarket, an early 4am start and a long drive back this evening…. I think he will be swerving the early morning feeds tomorrow though- most days he enjoys getting up and doing this job but he might not after the drive back this evening!
The sun was shining on 3rd lot as they walked down to the gallop – Recent dual winner, Nemean Lion looking in great order – he has a 2m5f Autumn hurdle final at Worcester in a couple of weeks that he has qualified for – its a novice handicap and it looks made for him.
We are also looking forward to running 2 year old winner, Rayna’s World again soon, Phil wasn’t sure wether to finish her for the season but she has been so well since she ran it’s likely she will make one moe appearance before she has the winter off.
