A beautiful evening at Green Oaks – our 2&3 year old NH bred geldings out in the paddocks

No runners today but we have an extra horse tonight for B&B as Phil has been to Catterick and claimed the 2 year old Mr Carbonator who was 2nd and ran a good race.

It was absolutely tanking down this morning at the yard and the waterpoofs were back out – on the horses backs as well as the riders. Almost all the jumpers are back in work now – well on schedule for the NH season coming up – and there are five lots every day now with flat and jumpers all in work. We are looking to recruit another experienced rider to add to our winter team, and we have a really exciting bunch of horses, probably our best yet. Nautical Nitwit reminded us he is a real Saturday horse last weekend with 3rd in The Crystal Cup off a high weight and he now heads back to Cartmel at the backend of August for a £25k race over 3m 1f – the one Goldan Jess won a few years ago.

Tomorrow sees Shine Baby Shine in action in her first handicap at Doncaster, she was alloted a mark Of 50 after her three maidens, and although this looks fair, tomorrow looks a competitive affair with many unexposed youngsters in it. She is a nice filly who we hope will progress as she gains experience.

There are plenty of entries for Saturday, more of them at decs time Once plans have been firmed up.
