Weekend News

Pickworth and her Fame & Glory colt taking a break this morning

What a good run we saw from Nautical Nitwit  in The Grade 2  Crystal Trophy at Cartmel this afternoon – 3rd in a hot handicap Off a high weight, staying on all the way to the line on ground that he would have found soft enough after prolonged rain. Tommy was riding him for the first time and got some quick jumping out of him on Nitwit’s first visit to Cartmel. He still earned about £2500 for 3rd in such a good race, and It was a good day for all connections. The wonderfully tough ‘Nitwit’ is back eating his tea and we are looking forward to the next race with him.

It was the No.1 spot again for Phil & John Hanson’s Greyhound ‘Izzyindy’ who won his fifth race in a row last night at Askern – he really is a flying machine. He is aimed at a Derby next time and you wouldn’t want to bet against him.

Jenny with Mangata

We have welcomed new member of staff, Jenny to the yard this week. She is a very experienced rider and has already been making a difference schooling our ex racers – Whitchurch being one who is ready for a career change and he enjoyed a flatwork session today after 4th lot.

Tomorrow its Redcar with 2 year old Jaycol’s Star & Leonard Thomas. Jaycol has pleased Phil since his Chester debut and this is another learning experience for him tomorrow in the stronger of the two divisions – typical we landed in the hardest one!

We are hopeful that the Equiano filly pictured below will be making her debut soon for  ‘The Jessies’, she is pictured below with Sam doing a strong gallop.

Shares are selling very well in the 3 year old now gelded ‘Mangata’ who is impressing everyone with his good looks and straightforward temperament. There are a small number Of 5% shares remaining.
