Flat and Jumps today at Towcester, Carlisle & Leicester

Fingal’s Cave

We are triple  handed today  at Leicester with Whitchurch in the seller, Man in Black in the 2m 4f handicap chase at Towcester and Fingal’s Cave in at Carlisle. Fingal’s Cave is our first runner  in the 3.20 and Jamie Gormley takes off a handy 7lbs as he is top weight in this 11 runner race. He has never ran here before, but is a past winner at Epsom which has plenty of ups and downs, and as the Racing Post says, he has been in good form of late and should give another decent account of himself. He is currently 8-1 with the books and if he could win it would be a great afternoon for his owners the Redhotgardogs who are local to this track.

Down at Leicester, Whitchurch needs to up his game in this race but he won 2 last flat season and he is well capable on his day.Paddy Aspell rides and there are now 2 non runners making this a race he can certainly figure in the placings.

Man in Black ran his best race for us last time at Carlisle (close 2nd) , and we are hoping this similarly stiff right handed track can bring about the same improvement. There is not a lot of strength in depth here and its a great opportunity for him to get off the mark over fences. We would have preferred softer ground and the rain over the weekend helped but its warm and sunny all day and it will unfortunately quicken up. Tommy rides and he went well for him last time.

Man in Black looking well

Hoping to bring a good report later this evening!
