Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Thursday 2nd March

That’s what we felt last night watching Good Time Ahead in the last furlong of the 5.30 race  but even as he passed the post we were sure he had won – it looked to us and those calling it on TV that he had just held on. But  a minute later the result went the wrong way ( he had been 1/10 on Betfair to win the photo) so we had to be content with 2nd. This was his first run in new colours and it was so close to a dream result but he stilll ran another great race from a bad draw and remains in top form, Paddy gave him a top ride, he was just unlucky.

Improved couldn’t quite get in the placings at Musselburgh after travelling well,  and his tendency to hit the odd hurdle didn’t help his cause but he’ll be back, he probably prefers carrying more weight in a less classier race. We are still smiling remembering his Fakenham win and he’s sure to add to it as we get some better Spring ground.

No runners today but several entered tomorrow at Doncaster and we will be previewing the races later on plus our Ex Racers video will be on the site – we are sure you will enjoy seeing many old faces in their new homes doing so well.

Congrats to our jockey Adam Nicol, he had a winner yesterday making it three wins from his last three rides!!!! Hoping Lady Buttons can make it a fourth win tomorrow….

Some photos from yesterday …
