Nautical Nitwit ran a blinder yesterday at Worcester, beaten just bits for 3rd after looking the winner at the last – his big weight just caught him out and he gave lumps away to the winner and second. It was a good class  15 runner handicap and you could take him just about anywhere now- he is a really genuine little horse and he travelled the best he has done in a race to date.  He was our relaxing in the field today as you will see from the new video below. Triple Eight was our big hope today but he only finished mid field which is unusual for him and Phil said on his way home that he thinks he just ran him a bit soon – he only ran a  week ago and it was red hot today, just a little cooler tonight though thankfully when he ran. Hopefully the handicapper will drop him a couple of pounds as he has been going up without winning this year – they really have him where they want him on the flat and over hurdles – but you need pounds in hand to win races and he hasn’t got any in hand at the moment as two photo finish seconds over hurdles this year proves! Kallisto Freedom again showed good speed in the 2 year old seller but didn’t see out her race and she looked tall and backwards – perhaps she is one for next year.

It was scorching at the yard today and we welcomed new Conditional Jockey Lee Cosgrove to the yard for his first day. Lee has ridden in plenty of pony races in Ireland so won’t lack for race riding experience, and we kept him busy, one of the horses that he rode being Factor Fifty – you will see him in action on the video below. Once he has completed his Conditional course which isn’t for a couple of months – he will be able to claim 10lbs in races for us.

Some further photos from today….and a video to finish.
