Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Monday 12th September

nitwit smal ridngPhil and Julie have set off to the races with Ullswater (6.25) and Nautical Nitwit – above with Kelly –  (4.50) – they run at Wolverhampton and Worcester, and we are combining the trip to make life easier. Nitwit is in a pretty hot handicap hurdle, but he has his rating for a reason and we see no reason why he won’t be competitive again – although life always gets tougher when you go down South. Adam rides him and we wish his owners The Birrafun Partnership the best of luck today. Our other runner is Ullswater who has been disappointing but definitely retains plenty of ability, he looks in great shape – we will see if the break has done him good.

Chloe’s Image

I watched Phil work Chloe’s Image this morning who looked pretty tired walking round the school afterwards to cool off – she has had a long time off but we are really looking forward to getting her racing again, she may return straight over hurdles in a novice handicap as she has a mark from 2014.

Phil took Factor Fifty for a country ride at friends with Izzy yesterday , and Frankie was a total gent as always and loved the change of scenery.

Lauren was out on Tara Time early this morning as usual – she is ridden on her own mainly to keep calm as she is so buzzy – she is pictured here cooling off afterwards.

Wednesday is an exciting one at the yard for our staff – top jockey trainer YOGI BREISNER is coming to the yard to give our young jockeys a  schooling lesson – in the school and out over the hurdles – I will be bringing a video of this session and it will be valuable for our new 10lb claimer, Lee who starts work tomorrow. Sam who is off with a shoulder injury will be gutted to miss it. I believe its also going to be bacon sandwiches all round afterwards.

After seeing all the French youngstock we couldn’t wait to get back and compare them to our foals and yearlings, and we were not disappointed with what we have! here are some photos from down the fields at Green Oaks…

Archipposs made us laugh - he didn't seem to know what to do with his carrot yesterday!

And this is the 3 year old Sholokov gelding  who is now entered in the 200,000 Goffs land Rover bumper final in 2017, coming back to the yard with Kelly – he is her favourite…
