Saturday 4th June

Hexham and Newcastle beckoned for us instead of the glories of Epsom!

We have had 2 seconds and a 3rd the last 2 days and the B.L.U.E Partnership were unlucky that both their horses have been beaten just fractions in two consecutive days – Bold Henmie just getting run out of it on the line at Market Rasen , and today Rajapur almost getting up in the Juvenile at Hexham. Both horses ran very good races, as did Nautical Niwit who galloped all the way to the line in the 2m 7f handcap hurdle at Market Rasen yesterday and we can look forward to a good summer with all three of them.  Old boy Goldan Jess is fine after his race and a return to turf beckons after him not appreciating this fast run 2 miler on the AW.  Julie won Best Turned Out with Rajapur today and this was a pleasing performance on his hurdling debut – he was bought to make a hurdler and this ‘neck’ second was almost the perfect start after extensive schooling at home – we like them to be fully prepared before making their debuts but he still jumped a  little green at times as they do when going that shade faster in a race.

Its a Sunday without any runners for us tomorrow but with three at Ayr on Monday its back to the action quickly. Its also going to be much warmer too, we in the North East have really been suffering with cold damp conditions compared to everyone in the west who have been basking in hot sunshine – the Kirby family in Southern Ireland included! Looks like the T shirts and shorts can come out tomorrow though.

Next week sees Musikhani and Marmot Bay coming back with their colt foals, both safely scanned in foal to Farhh and Brazen Beau. Lady Chapp and Lady Chloe’s foal are nowe playing together -they are called Stanley and Tonto.
