Big priced horses….
We had our first 250-1 shot in the frame today…..Bold Henmie really surprised us with a close up third at Huntingdon after running keen for most of the race. Sadly no one had a penny on, but the odds were looking pretty generous as he led over the second last when still going well for jockey, Brian Toomey. He is a great little horse for his connections and we couldn’t be more pleased that he seems as consistent over hurdles as he is on the flat. Lets hope the handicapper doesnt get too carried away with this performance as he is exposed on the flat and hasn’t turned into Istabraq overnight, he can hopefully make a nice handicap novice hurdler if given a chance.
Perennial also ran an improved race for 3rd on the flat at Wolverhampton. Quadriga ran well in his race for a long way but was just tapped for toe and class in the final furlong. The dissapointment of the day was Istikaar who was boxed in and just couldn’t run his race but he’ll be back out again shortly to make amends.
We have several new horses at the yard…Whitchurch who has been bought from Andrew Balding’s for an enthusiastic group of new Owners from near Whitby. We wish them good luck! Phil bought two horses from Ascot with good recent form; Ullswater and Nautical Nitwit. Also joining us this week for an existing Owner is the four year old filly, City Dreams by Rakti.
It was a busy day at the sales yesterday and there was plenty of large cheques being written out for yearlings by Top sires. The colt we took looked in tremendous condition and really filled the eye, he made £28, 350.00 stg as a foal in Ireland , and this was upped to £58,000 stg as a yearling, a sound day at the Office and we will watch his progress with interest, he was bought by a leading agent Charlie Gordon Watson. Some photos from the day….
