Monday at Sedgefield & Newmarket
I love this photo taken by one of our Team, Kelly Cochrane, a beautiful image from the back of one of the horses…
Its an exciting day ahead at the Sales as The Castleton Bloodstock colt goes through the ring later this afternoon. There has been lots of interest in him and we look forward to bringing you photos and the result later this evening. He has taken all the hustle and bustle in his stride so far.
Racing is at Sedgefield for us, Adam rides Dibble Bridge in his second
start over hurdles, he is a horse who needs a mark to go handicapping so we wont be expecting him to trouble the fancied horses today, not many are good enough to win novices. As usual in these races there are about 3 with chances and the rest who just want to have a safe round and learn their trade while doing their best, hoping for more improvement as they reach their grade in handicaps.
We weren’t dissapointed with Colin at York, if anyone had told us he would have won three flat races this year we would have been over the moon. He travelled really well and just couldn’t quicken in the last furlong, finishing about 7th but he is fine and had a good day out in the field yesterday. He needs a more testing track and if he seems well we may have a go back over hurdles once the ground is a bit softer, he is off a handy mark.
Hexham was dissapointing, but Arco finishing sore so she can also be excused her run – we don’t have much luck for her Owner Keith Foster, it needs to change! She will be having a quiet week or two now.
Just to remind you about some horses we have for sale, the Yeats 3 year old, a half brother to the outstanding unbeaten irish mare Feathard Lady is currently doing his roadwork at Castleton and is a very nice compact gelding with a very good attitude. He is a very smart prospect.
Also still at the home yard is the well bred 2 year old Enlighten Me who you can buy an all in share for the 2016 flat season for just £1000.
Foals at Castleton…I love this photo of Pickworth’s colt ‘Twix’ ( left) and big boy ‘Robin’ out of Lady Chapp.
Also here are some photos of Next Edition at Catterick last Tuesday.
Last week saw our daughter Indy riding at Horse of the year Show for some friends and it was great being able to sit and relax watching as they led the pony. She came 10th so a decent result in a big class and loved every minute of it.
We didn’t have any ex racers there this year but hoping Word of Warning qualifies next year. I was sent this happy photo of Jawaab yesterday hacking over Glaisdale, he has a great life with Becky Dempsey and family.
