This  is the double page spread  in the Racing Post today – Splash of Verve just getting pipped at the post at Beverley during the week. He ran a cracking race and Phil has entered him at Sandown in a higher grade race, he has come out of this really well.

Ross on Mr Selby

Ross on Mr Selby

Mr Selby ran an absolute stormer at Market Rasen yesterday, making all in the novice hurdle and battling on to win well under Adam Nicol. This was a great step up on his previous  form but he had shown considerable promise on his debut for us a few  weeks ago, and this was really exciting. Mr Selby was a hard horse to settle when he came to our yard but Amateur jockey Ross Turner has done some sterling work at home every day on him and this shows what team work is all about.

Its fantastic to have the horses back in top form, and for several weeks now Phil has been featuring on Racing Post’s Hot Trainers List. Its just what you want to see, and so do our Owners! Lets see it again!!

Today sees old favourite Call it On running in the stayers race at Pontefract, his first visit to this unique, stiff track. Let’s hope he likes the undulations amd uphill finish, its the other way round to Carlisle but so far all his wins for us have been right handed. We think thats just a coincidence though, he has run really well on the AW left handed. Graham Lee rides, just who you want on to get the best results, and he needs a strong jockey like him to be really effective.

The Topspec Partnership’s Factor Fifty runs at Southwell in the 4.05 and Adam Nicol would love to be getting a quick double. He knows Frankie really well and stepping up to 3 miles for the first time  may just bring about some improvement, but its a 0-140 and they really take some winning. Good luck to his Owners this afternoon and we hope you have a good day at the races.

We were recently sent this photo of Lady Chloe and her colt foal who have remained in France to obtain the French Premiums. We are delighted how tall and scopey the colt looks, especially since he is her first foal. Chloe is scanned in foal to Authorized.
