Splash of Verve says he should have won the photo finish!

It was oh so close at Beverley on Wednesday when Splash of Verve just got pipped in a photo for The Splash of Verve Pship. He is proving very consistent now he has hit top form and was unlucky not to get his third win here. Graham Lee did the steering and he is also on board Call it On at Pontefract on Sunday. Colin is paper favourite for this extreme staying test, and every bit of rain that has fallen today will help his chance. Call it On has also been in great form of late, 3rd at Thirsk, 2nd at Great Leighs and winning at Carlisle under Cathy Walton. We love owning Colin, he will also be going jumping this winter, he is a decent staying handicap hurdler and chaser.

Tomorrow we have the good looking Mr Selby running at Market Rasen, he showed a ability when pulling hard and making most  before fading late on first time for us. He is going to have to learn to settle before he is able to win races but he looks to have the engine required to make into a nice handicapper in time. Megan Dent took this great photo of him earlier in the week.

Sunday is going to be a busy day, and we also have the Topspec Partnerships’s Factor Fifty running at Southwell, the course where he won his bumper. Frankie dropped 3lbs for his last run but may need a bit more ease yet, we will see how he fares in this 0-140 on Sunday, its a classy handicap and its also a step up to 3 miles but there are only 7 Runners and the top one is actually only 127 so we carry 11 stone.
