Monday June 22nd

rocky 2 Rocky Two ran  very pleasing race yesterday at Hexham, 4th in a decent novice and running on well all the way to the line. We hope the handicapper doesn’t take this the wrong way as he needs some help to get winning races and picking up some prize money, he is a very slick jumper and in the right Grade he looks a nice handicap hurdler in the making.

Its back to work for us all today, 11 days of sunshine with the family in Ibiza has fully re-charged our batteries and we are looking forward to

Mr Chuckles

the racing week ahead. First lot today sees the 2 year old Arcano colt ‘Mr Chuckles’ doing his last piece of work ahead of his debut run at Hamilton on Thursday – he will work with the as yet unnamed ‘Archipenko’ colt  and one or two others. Photographer and Owner, Keith Foster is at the yard and on the gallops this morning and I am looking forward to some good photos later this evening.

Our next runner is ‘Triple Eight’ at Beverley tomorrow for ‘The Redhotgardogs’ – he will have come on for his York Charity Race outing,  and then we have GOLDAN JESS making his comeback at kempton on Wednesday, just as he did last year. This is a stepping stone to his second Crystal Cup bid at Cartmel, and he is right on track, being ready a couple of weeks earlier than last year. We seem to get 3 or 4 races from Jess each year due to his fragile legs and we would love to run him in a decent flat handicap this year as well if we can find the right race.

Triple Eight

Triple Eight

On Friday we have Julie riding ‘Quadriga’ in the staff race at Doncaster. She picked him up all the way from  near Wincanton on Friday – she tells me he is a very keen ride, quite buzzy, but has this week to get to know him and we are all excited about her big day. He will run in Platinums ‘pink and green’ colours, and hope they bring them some luck. Apparantly he looks just like Triple Eight with a big white face.

Horse and Hound covered the race in this weeks issue, shame they couldn’t get Phils name right to start with , they give Julie as working for someone else! But it does amend it as you read further… see the piece on this link.
