Look at those quarter marks!

Look at those quarter marks!

Almost a perfect day for us, our own ‘Call it On’ running a very good race at Great Leighs but JUST getting denied by the odds on favourite who came with a late run in the shadow of the post. Colin looked in fantastic shape and Julie and Sarah had him turned out to perfection. Tom Queally gave him a good ride and it looks as though it has been worth bringing him back into training now as he is improving with each run, hopefully he should add to his flat tally before going jumping again.

Julie was out early this morning at Great Leighs – running round the track in training for her race ride next Friday at Doncaster.

No further runners until Sunday – Rocky Two at Hexham in a novices hurdle, he needs a third run for a handicap mark over hurdles. It will be no easy task.

We are enjoying our last day of holiday – would have been great to finish on a winner but King’s Grey’s Aintree win made it a good first week and we are still very pleased with Colin today. All has run smoothly by our excellent Team while we have been away, although i can’t help thinking Simon will be relieved when Phil arrives back, we always are when he and Sarah get back from time away!

Good and bad news on our broodmare front… Lady Chapp scanned with a foal heartbeat to Presenting yesterday, but frustratingly Helen Wood scanned this morning ‘ not in foal ‘  and she will now miss this year. Just now waiting on Pickworth’s scan.

This is a filly we are looking forward to for the future- one of Beneficial’s last foals out of a half sister to the top hurdler/ chaser Mr McGoldrick. She has been named ‘Dares to Dream’ and she is as nice a yearling as she was a foal.
