Tuesday 22nd – 3 to Newcastle
Three runners to Newcastle today, and we have had that many seconds recently we do not want another one – a winner is much needed to start the week off well. The horses are running well but no-one remembers the seconds at the end of the season when the winners are counted up. Dr Irv ran a cracking race at York to be second on his latest start, and he must have a very sound each way chance today with Megan Carberry back on. He also has the cheekpieces on for the first time and hopefully it might make the difference.
Stormy Morning was disappointing off a slow pace last time at Wolverhampton, he is a funny character who has plenty of go on his day and is more than capable of winning off this mark if all falls right for him – he carries the Ownaracehorse colours and will have plenty of supporters shouting him home at this local track.
Splash of Verve is a nice 2 year old by Fast Company who has been steadily improving without setting the world alight. We are sure he will turn into a good sort of three year old but he will have one or two more runs this season before being put away for next season.
We are very dissapointed to report that Taxi des Obeaux has suffered a tendon injury and won’t be running this year for the Sharp Hill II Partnership – so frustrating after having so much time off in the past for an unrelated problem, and Taxi had been going so well – the ups and downs of racing can be very harsh. Next Edition has also had a setback and will be getting a scan later this week – Eddie has never had any sort of leg problems in the three years we have had him so we are hoping the scan does not read too badly and all Partnership owners will be updated as soon as we have the results.
Below are some photos taken in France at the AQPS Show – the 2 horses in the show ring are 2 year old fillies and we really loved the one that was 3rd, the filly by Kapgarde. they were so mature looking and we would have liked to be bringing them home with us to run in bumpers next year.
These two almost look ready to run in bumpers! We were very impressed with the good bone of these AQPS horses and they looked tough and hardy.
