More near Misses…..
and another frustrating DOUBLE of seconds today with our runners at Catterick. Both Triple Eight and Istimraar ran absolute blinders but just got edged out in thrilling finishes, we were very pleased with both of them but would have loved them to be led into the top spot. The other three all ran well – Rocky Two just fading after making most the running on rain softened ground, Enzaal and Stag’s leap staying on well in the closing stages. As we predicted earlier, 3 year old ;Istimraar; ran a big race at a big price – he is just growing up now, they think a lot of the winner and he gave it tons of weight and had no room at a crucial part of the finish.

Earlier News….Apologies for lack of news service this last week, we have been in France on a Racing Tour thanks to the French Racing and Breeding Committee to visit the AQPS Show in Le Lion d’Angers and various racetracks and studs – a very interesting and informative trip and we saw some lovely young horses and enjoyed wonderful hospitality. Photos at the bottom of the page, more to follow. The French really have their racing so well organised and the opportunities to actually cover training fees with win and place prize money and still have extra winnings left to enjoy the sport is a great draw for many owners. We definately plan to be back – and with some runners next time.
While we were away we had a double of seconds at Kelso and Beverley, both Factor Fifty and Mysterious Wonder running sound races but just hitting the crossbar. Frankie cut an artery on his leg which is why he did not return to the winners enclosure but it was soon stopped back at the yard and he is fine, although rather tired after his big effort. Mysterious ran his best race this year so far , and was forced wide in the race due to traffic problems, hopefully he can build on this next time.Today its Catterick and if we ever make it back ( currently stuck in traffic jams somewhere past Watford) Phil will be there to saddle the five runners today- with plenty of help as we have four in one race! Its hard to say which would be our best chance in the 1m5f handicap but i think Phil may be edging towards Rocky Two or Triple Eight. Istimraar is our first runner of the day, also over 1m5f and he finished his race off quite strongly last time at Cartmel, we would be hopeful of a good run from him today back on the flat. Good luck to our owners involved. Photos from the French Trip….
