Friday’s News
This is Phil’s view up the gallops from the back of Woodpole Academy. Henry Brooke has been doing the schooling on him and looking forward to his return to the track, he is a quick jumper.
Good Luck today to Perennial and Owners – he runs in the 5.55, a competitive 11 runner 1m6f handicap and Danny Tudhope does the steering. Perennial certainly has the ability to run well in this, he needs things to go his way and will appreciate the ground drying up to good with the predicted fine day ahead.
Phil attended DBS sales yesterday and our two entries went to new homes – Run Fat Lass Run and Rio Cobollo. Phil didn’t come back empty handed, he purchased the unraced 3 year old ‘Nabateo ‘ by Sea the Stars from Marco Botti’s yard. This was a very expensive yearling that has never ran so is a chancy one but he is is big and well bred and Phil will aiming him at juvenile bumpers. He is also happy with the Tikannen bought on Wednesday but in error i said he was 3, in fact he is 6 and a big strapping untried horse ready to make a start with in bumpers and novice hurdles after Christmas.
We will be three handed at York on Sunday as unfortunately Kiwayu did not make the cut in the Old Borough Cup at Haydock- most frustrating he was balloted out by one place and now runs for considerably less money in an almost equally competitive race at York. Joining him on the knavesmire is Dr Irv (in the same race) and Next Edition in the final race, the Apprentice handicap. No runners tomorrow.
