No runners this Sunday so a day of rest for Phil who is taking his new Squash hobby seriously and is playing again this evening. Yesterday we had yet another 2nd this week – Run Fat Lass Run going well at Redcar for Philip Dennis – a double of 2nds after his close 2nd on O’ly Roccs at Wolverhampton – we can’t keep hitting the crossbar and the winners are surely just around the corner. There are a host of entries for the coming week and we will be watching nervously as Goldan Jess returns to the scene of his last triumph at Cartmel tomorrow – Kyle of course back in the plate, and can they really do it again off a career high hurdle mark. Jess is top weight and seems none the worse for his Carlisle outing on the flat where he was found afterwards to have a irregular heartbeat. All the tests since have been clear, but Kyle will be looking after him tomorrow if he doesnt travel with his usual zest from the outset. The Jessies will be there to watch his run this time – and a good luck also to his other owners, Colin Fletcher and Brian Cobbett.
Our other runners are at Cartmel (Istimraar), Huntingdon (Noir Girl) and Ripon (Iftikaar) . All nice young horses, and Phil hopes the mare, Noir Girl can get her head in front over hurdles and gain the second win of her career – she was a bumper winner at Southwell last year. Istimraar runs in the Juvenile at Cartmel and he travels well which is vital at this unusual track. The Cape Cross 4 year old, Iftikaar ran a great race on debut for us just being touched off by a short priced favourite in a maiden. We feel he didn’t appreciate the soft surface last time and hopefully this sounder surface will see him to better effect. Good luck to all our Owners with runners tomorrow.
