A very downbeat news tonight, we were shocked and  upset to see poor Jasper Massini break down  badly at Uttoxeter just yards from winning his race this evening – victory looked certain for him after bravely making all, and our condolences go to Julia Brook and family who have owned this lovely horse for ages. Sadly he was PTS on the track as his injury was too bad to save.

We were also very sad to hear that our former hurdler,  Apache Brave (pictured right) lost his life today after a bad bout of colic. He left us a apacebravecouple of years back to go pointing and was successful  for his owner John Lees. Its been an up and very down week all in all – Henry Brook managed to break his collar bone schooling for us but he reports that it should only be a fortnight mending – shows how tough these jockeys can be!

We also had Agglestone Rock having to be prematurely retired, thank goodness for Rumble of Thunder rising to the occasion for a third time at Aintree last night and making it 3 wins from 4 starts at the track, what a record. All our Aintree runners are fine today – Celtic Agent is now having a nice summer break and he is an exciting winter prospect over hurdles.

Tomorrow its Market Rasen and we have two good chances with the ‘in form’ Pass Muster and hurdling newcomer ‘Perennial’. A double would be good to cheer us up but two safe clear rounds will be first and foremost in our minds after today.
