Wednesday’s news

Marmot Bay

Esk Valley Lady with Eva

Esk Vally Lady runs at Beverley this afternoon, the first division of the 5f maiden. She is a big price and will be seen to better effect when contesting nursery handicaps but this will give her some bend experience and she is a nice filly for the future.

Phil was more than pleased with the work morning yesterday, without revealing too much there were some good performances and he was also delighted with the schooling of Rosie du Berlais and Istimraar. Russ Kennemore gave Dr Irv a spin ahead of his ride on him on Sunday at Musselburgh.

Back at Castleton i took some photos of 4 year old Prince (un-named, 4 yr old for sale to stay in the yard) with the Beat Hollow filly who has been named Ruby. She has been enjoying a couple of days holiday here.

farmer phil Phil came back after work and it has been such a drying few days he was out on our ancient tractor and harrowing the paddocks, they all looked much better afterwards.

Earlier in the day i took our girls to see Pickworth and her colt foal, he has changed so much from those ‘first day’ photos and is a really smart looking colt. foal1 he was bold and inquisitive and has some striking markings.

Other foaling News: the next foal due will be ‘Prince’s  half brother or sister  – out of Show Potential and by the late Josr Algarhoud who died this winter.  The final mare to foal will be Hulla Ballew who is due around the beginning of May. Lady Chloe has been scanned in foal to Shirocco, and Lady Chap has her ‘heatbeat’ scan to Robin des Champs  in a couple of days – everything is crossed.
