1st January 2014 – further updates from 9am

everaardHappy new year to you all!

62 on the board for 2013..looking to better that this time and its straight into the action with three chances later today.

Its been a year since Everaard kicked us off with a winner on our first day at Sharp Hill …can he get back to winning ways in the 3 mile h’cap chase at Musselburgh? We hope so, he has been doing plenty of work  and looks a picture, Richie is back on board and won on him twice in 2013 – he is joined in the box by the Well Oiled P’ships’ Rumble of Thunder’ who has had a decent break since he was brought down at Market Rasen in the summer. Rumble suffered a bad fall that day but he is back to full fitness now and these two will no doubt have a thing or two to say to each other on the journey North!

While Kate and Richie track up North, Phil, Adam and I will be journeying South in the green box with the now four year old filly ‘Lady Buttons’ . Its a 5am start from Castleton to head to Middleham and pick her up….in fact I am up in four hours, not sure its worth going to bed!!  It is sure to be an exciting day for her owners Keith and Jayne Sivills, the first foal they have bred and she goes to a Listed Cheltenham bumper with a serious chance. Tomorrow we will find out how good she might be, although of course the race looks exceptionally hot. The best of luck to all our Owners today and may all the horses come back safe and sound.
