Philip Kirby Racing

Racehorse Trainer based at Richmond, North Yorkshire

Thursday 12th News

It was a long trip up to Carlisle  and back yesterday for no runner! Phil withdrew Oratory as the ground became progressively softer throughout the day. and it wasn’t worth giving him a hard race on unsuitable going, its always testing up the Carlisle hill.

No runners now until Saturday when we have newcomer ‘Enzaal’ at Chester, its been a quiet week but the National Hunt side of the yard is really beginning to swing into action – a lot of horses were schooled yesterday – jockeys Richie McGrath, Adam Nicol, Kyle James, Harriet Bethell and Philip Dennis were on board, and  Word of Warning, Brunello, Gloshan, Cleve Cottage, Monkey Milan and Noir Girl went up several times. I asked Phil who jumped particularly well, and he was very impressed with Monkey Milan, but I know in the past he has said how well both Brunello and Word of Warning jump.

Two horses arrived back this week – Nial and Leanne Hannity’s Westerner gelding (still unnamed) and the big horse, Mangas Colarades who looks a future chaser when he strengthens up.

Equine physiotherapist Vicky Easterby  is at Sharp Hill this morning. Platinum is certainly an advertisement for her talents – she treated him a couple of days before his Haydock win and she  is one of the vital  ingredients of our winning team.
